Endlech.lu vs Wheelmap
One traffic light for the world against eight features for one country
Endlech.lu fits if β¦
you want to know more than βcan I get inβ β door width, table spacing, assistance dogs, lighting, opening hours β and you are looking in Luxembourg.
Wheelmap fits if β¦
you are travelling, outside Luxembourg, or looking for something other than a restaurant: a station, a pharmacy, a cinema, a museum.
The two do not rule each other out β most people use more than one tool anyway.

When Wheelmap is the better choice
- Wheelmap works worldwide and for everything. 180 place types in twelve categories β station, pharmacy, cinema, museum. Endlech.lu knows restaurants in Luxembourg and nothing else.
- Every rating flows back into OpenStreetMap and is available to everyone there. That is more openness than a dataset of our own can offer.
- Contributing needs no account. No sign-up, no waiting for approval β you stand at the door, tap the colour, done.
- Over a million rated places and a community going back to 2010, plus apps for iPhone and Android. We are only starting.
Common questions
Is Wheelmap not the same thing as Endlech.lu?
No. Wheelmap answers βcan I get in?β β worldwide, for any kind of place, with a traffic light. We answer βwhat is it like inside?β β for restaurants in Luxembourg, with eight features and centimetres. The traffic light is exactly the right tool for a worldwide overview; it is only too coarse for deciding whether you can go to this restaurant tonight.
Why not simply build on Wheelmap?
In part we do: our data is open, as theirs is. But the traffic light has three levels and the 7 cm limit; we need eight individually filterable features, opening hours and measurements. Those fields do not exist there β on Wheelmap, door widths sit in a free-text comment.
Wheelmap is non-profit and open too β so where is the difference?
In the depth per place and in the checking. Wheelmap publishes immediately what someone enters; with us every submission is looked at before it appears, and what we checked ourselves carries a mark. That is slower and covers less. Both are a choice, not a superiority.
Which of the two should I use?
Both. Wheelmap for the overview and for everything outside Luxembourg, us for the detail beforehand. We recommend Wheelmap without reservation β the Sozialhelden have been doing this since 2010, and they do it well.
